Meet Ashley Reed - Monday Meet Up with The Teaching Tribune

Happy Monday!  Today I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune for their 1st Monday Meet Up.  This linky is part of their Summer Bloggin' Series!  After reading my post, be sure to hop over and check it out.

Today I will introduce you all to one of my friends and fellow blogging buddies!

Ashley is the amazing woman behind the blog Just Reed!  She also sells products on TpT under the name Ashley Reed.  Ashley is such a talented person and I want to tell you all about her!

Ashley has been teaching in her hometown of Thomaston, Georgia for 9 years. She has taught in public and private schools in her area.  She spent 3 years in first grade, 1 year in fifth grade, and 5 years in second grade.  Next year she will be taking the plunge into Kindergarten and is very excited about it because she has always wanted to.

Ashley has a wonderful husband and a beautiful 6.5 year old daughter.  She is a very creative person and is especially good at writing (poetry).  She also has a knack for marketing which she has some experience with.  She was her father's office manager at the family pharmacy for 6 years.

Ashley loves to think outside of the box and reach new people with new ideas.  This is why I think if she wasn't a teacher, she would be great a running her own business such as a daycare or marketing firm.

Speaking of Ashley's talents, you have got to check out her products on TpT!  One of my favorite products in her store is

This 107 page unit has got it ALL!  Everything that you need to teach a complete unit on zoo animals is provided in this product.   Geared toward students in grades K-3, this steal of a deal will have your students reading, studying, writing and talking about animals for a full 12 days!  She even included suggested daily lesson plans!

Check out her blog post [here] to see how she uses this in her classroom!

Isn't Ashley an amazing, talented educator and woman?  I think so!  When you hop over to her TpT store to check out her products, be sure to grab this FREEBIE to add to your bag (computer file) of resources.

I hope you enjoyed meeting my friend, Ashley!  If you would like to meet more people, hop over to The Teaching Tribune's Link Up by clicking the button below!

Have a fabulous day!

June Currently

Happy June 1st everyone!  The past month and a half has been a complete whirlwind of birthdays, awards programs, and all around end-of-the-school-year CHAOS! --Hence the lack of blog posts recently--  I am now happy to say that it is officially SUMMER break for me - wooohooo!!

Today I'm linking up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade to bring you my June Currently!!  If you have never read these blog posts each month, I highly encourage you to hop over to her blog and check it out. I love reading the monthly "Currently" posts because I get a little snapshot into the person behind the blog which makes blogging more fun!  It helps to be able to connect with people on a personal level instead of just relating to each other as educators :)  Click on Farley's button below (after you check out my post) to find more blogs participating this month or to link up your blog.

Here is my June Currently:

Listening
I am currently typing this post on a quiet Sunday afternoon.  I have the luxury of being home alone so the only sound I can hear are the quiet clicks of my keyboard. My birthday was Friday so my husband has given me the chance to be do as I choose the whole weekend.  Today I chose to do NOTHING while he brought our two boys (ages 8 & 11) to a fair that is going on in our city.  I am enjoying the peace and quiet indeed!

Loving
I am happy to say that summer has officially started for me and I couldn't be more excited!!!  I will be tutoring this summer but I am keeping my schedule light so that I can enjoy the summer with my boys and get some "me" time as well.

Thinking
I have been thinking about what types of products I want to create this summer.  I want to create products that will not only help me in the classroom next year but will also help my followers in their classrooms.  If you have anything specific that you would like to see in my Tpt shop, feel free to let me know in the comments below.  I would love to hear what you guys are needing most.  I also have a list of products that are currently in my store that I plan on overhauling and updating.  Looking back at the products I created when I first began my TpT journey almost 2 years ago makes me cringe.  I am SO grateful for the many things I have learned along the way from fellow bloggers/TpTers that have allowed me to create products that are more appealing and useful to the buyer.

Wanting
So I was scanning Zulily the other day and I came across this fun and updated Polaroid camera that I absolutely want need!

I don't know what it is but Polaroid pictures are super fun in my opinion!  I guess it's the nostalgia of it :)  I have already thought of so many ways I can use it in my classroom that will help me justify buying it, haha!

I have also been wanting a Silhouette for a while now!  Do you own one?  If so, what brand or model do you have?  There are many options out there these days.

Needing
I need to make get off of Bloglovin', Facebook, and TpT so that I can get my lesson plans/resources ready for my first week of tutoring sessions or else I will be frantically trying to gather things tomorrow morning!  As some of you know I left the public school system and now run my own private "home"school with my best friend/business partner.  We have approximately 10-15 students (Grades K-6) each year and absolutely love what we do!  During the summer our school offers summer lessons for tutoring/enrichment (we call them jump start sessions) in order to help keep the business running all year.  My first sessions start tomorrow so as soon as I am done with this post, I MUST get my week planned out and resources ready. (Can you hear the self talk in there? haha)

Summer Bucket List
I am keeping it simple this summer --

1. Read - I love to drown myself in a good book and hope to get through many this summer.  I'd love to hear your book suggestions!  Leave me your book choices in the comments below :)

2. Create - Creating educational resources is not only a hobby but also therapy for me and I plan on getting lots in this summer.

3. Enjoy - My spiritual/emotional focus right now is all about living in the
present.  My plan this summer is to enjoy life and take in every
moment in order to live in the present and get joy out of life!

Hope you enjoyed reading my June Currently.  Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to hop over to Farley's blog and join in the fun!
