Thanksgiving in my Classroom

Hello Friends!

First of all, CONGRATS to the 9 ladies who pinned and commented on my previous post giveaway!  I surprised each one of them with BOTH of my new Common Core Activity Card Sets for 1st Grade!  If you missed it, you can read all about my new products here.

Thanksgiving in my classroom was super fun and educational.  I was surprised at the information they learned about the history of the Pilgrims, Native Americans, and Thanksgiving.  We started off reading about the pilgrims using these wonderful resources Little Red's Schoolhouse:

The nonfiction text and activities from the history makers set were perfect for my students!  I couldn't believe how engaged they were and how much information they retained!  After the story of The Pilgrims, we created the flip book craftivity from the second set.  You can see one student's book in the picture below.

The second activity we completed were the adorable turkeys pictured above.  This craftivity was a freebie from Jessica at Wild About Firsties!

To finish up our Thanksgiving activities, we discussed the things that we are thankful for in our lives!  Using a few picture books to help, we brainstormed a list of things to be thankful for then created these adorable plates "full of thanks" using this great product from the talented Kelly at the Teacher Idea Factory!

This little guy was thankful for money :)

I hope your class had a wonderful time learning all about Thanksgiving!  I know mine did.  Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
